We offer a safe space for children to ask questions without judgment, bring their full selves and learn tools and techniques that equip them to be more inclusive in their community.
We believe that learning should be fun! We will have lots of activities and games that foster friendships.
We encourage campers to grow the social skills necessary for positive relationships with others. We help them feel a sense of belonging, social acceptance, and understand their value to their community.
We encourage conversations about differences but we like to focus on similarities.
Learning about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) creates awareness of different cultural beliefs, opportunities, abilities and sexual orientation. It encourages acceptance and helps prepare children for life in a diverse world. It exposes them to more ideas and information and helps them adapt to an evolving world. It highlights that we all play an important role in our communities.
We are a Kenyan-Canadian couple, parents to three children. We moved from East Africa in 2017 and now live in Almonte. As parents of mixed children, we are passionate about DEI. We know that it is important to speak to Children about differences because they see it, and they speak about it, not with judgment but with curiosity. It is important that children learn how to talk about differences so that they can learn to embrace diversity in a way that is respectful and celebrates different cultural backgrounds and experiences.
For us it's about our children being able to bring their true selves in their work and in their community.
There are two offerings of the camp. The content will be the same for the two weeks so please only register your child for one of the weeks..
